Totem Scarf - Free Knitting Pattern!

--> ©2014 Kris Basta
I love this totem stitch and I wanted to see if I could use it in a scarf with my favorite shaping - worked from the bottom up and casting on stitches as you go to extend the width of the scarf.  I LOVE it!  I especially love the way this yarn worked up ("Polo" by Zitron - 60% cotton/40% Acrylic), it is nice and soft and drapey.  I highly recommend a cotton blend for this pattern.  Yarn is labeled as worsted weight but I would call it light worsted.
To download the pattern to your computer, scroll past the photos at the bottom and you will see the link that you can click on to download.  Happy knitting!

Tools & Materials:

Thank you, Kris! I think I will try linen yarn which blocks very soft and drapery after a wash. Will experiment with a size 8 needle.

Thank you so much for this pattern Kris! I love it... I just finished your Wiggle Scarf! Still need to block it. And I'm going to start on the Galatin (sp?) one as soon as I can get the yarn that suits me!

I love your blog! The casting on to increase method is also my favourite scarf construction. You usually work with worsted yarn and size 10 needles, which are my favourite weight and needle size. Just made your definitely diagonal scarf, I love it. Maybe I'll make this one for my mom.

I love this pattern - it looks so intricate, yet is quite easy to actually do. I'm using Caron Cakes (Red Velvet colourway) and size 10 needles and it is working up beautifully. Thanks so much for all your patterns, and I so appreciate the use of worsted weight yarn and the appropriate needles as that's where I'm most comfortable.

Having purchased gorgeous Gallatin, I'm exploring your pages. I've copied your quiche recipe and totem and bridger. I hope I have the skills for the Totem scarf; it's gorgeous
